Medium-Chain-Triglycerides: What They Are and Their Benefits

Fats are broken into different groups based on the number of carbons they have, short-chain (<6), medium-chain (6-12) and long-chain (13-21). Now Medium-Chain-Triglycerides (MCT) AKA Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA) are different from the others in that they are digested very easily, can have a positive effect on your metabolism (are thermogenic), and are readily used for energy as opposed to being stored as fat.
